‘There were tears on my pillow’: Big Brother star Zoe George reveals the emotional breakdown fans didn’t see her have on TV

It’s fair to say that the Big Brother Australia housemates shed their fair share of tears on TV.

But mummy blogger Zoe George says she wasn’t going to let anyone see her cry on the camera.

Speaking to TV Week, the reality star revealed that she had an emotional breakdown behind the scenes during filming for the show, because she is missing her two kids.

‘There were tears on my pillow’: Big Brother star Zoe George has revealed the emotional breakdown fans won’t see her have on this season’s series

‘I didn’t want to be the one who cried about missing her kids because it just gives the other housemates a reason to vote me out,’ explained Zoe, who is mother to son Ari, six, and daughter Ambrosia, four.

‘So every time I get emotional, I put my head under the blanket.

‘When I get a letter from home saying my son has shaved Z into his head because he misses me, I have a bit of a breakdown. There were tears on my pillow.’

Before appearing on the Channel Seven program, Zoe underwent a dramatic weight loss journey.

In 2019 the Melbourne woodwork teacher penned an essay on her blog, The Subtle Mummy, about how she managed to shed the kilos over the last three years.

Unhappy with her weight, the stunning mum-of-two went on a program of Hypoxi and began to cut out sugar and improve her diet.

For those that don’t know, Hypoxi is a low-impact exercise machine that uses vacuum technology to speed up weight loss.

In addition to Hypoxi, Zoe hired an exercise physiologist to give her a ‘physical kick up the butt’.

‘I loved loved loved being active again. I struggled with gyms before this as I lacked motivation to go and there was no one pushing me,’ she explained.

Zoe’s weight plateaued at 73kg, and at the time of the blog she hadn’t shifted any more pounds.

Despite the number on the scale, Zoe had finally reached her goal of fitting into a pair of size 10 jeans and was therefore happy with her progress.

‘I’m not sure if I’ll ever be in the 60s again and maybe I am curvy but as long as I’m HAPPY when I look in the mirror and I’m STRONG and HEALTHY, then that’s all that matters,’ she declared.

While the brunette beauty didn’t share exactly how many kilos she had lost since 2017, a series of before-and-after photos clearly demonstrate Zoe’s weight loss.
