JLS singer JB Gill admits he once confused superstar Adele for an excited FAN

She is one of the biggest artists to come out of the UK in the last decade.

But JB Gill from JLS has revealed he once mistook Adele for an excited fan which resulted in an extremely cringe-worthy interaction.

The singer, 33 , revealed on Monday that he once bumped into the Someone Like You singer, 32, on Oxford Street but had no idea who she was.

JB found fame on the 2008 series of X Factor after he auditioned with his JLS bandmates, Marvin Humes, Ortise Williams and Aston Merrygold.

The group became an instant fan favourite and they made it through to the X Factor finals, however they fell short of first place after Alexandra Burke won the viewer’s vote.

A few years after his X Factor appearance and several hit records later, his awkward encounter with Oscar-winner Adele took place.

JB speaking on new podcast The Reality of Reality TV with Fleur East, said: ‘I walked down Oxford Street. I bumped into her and she went, “Hi, JB. How are you doing?” I had a full-blown conversation with her, and I didn’t know it was her.

‘I promise you. I was looking at her, like, I know your face but…are you a fan?

‘Like, do you wanna do a photo? And, I must have brushed her off.’

He laughed as he retold the story, and then revealed the moment he had the sudden realisation that he’d bumped into the megastar.

Realisation: A few weeks later, JB was in the audience of a new X Factor series when Adele performed and he had the sudden realisation that he had shrugged off a talk with the megastar

The JLS singer added: ‘Then, like, a couple of weeks later she’s on the X Factor, obviously, as you do, and I was on there as well. I was in the audience, or whatever, and I saw her and I went, “I’m so, so sorry.”

‘She must have thought I was so rude.’

While JB didn’t specify the year his awkward encounter took place, Adele appeared on the X Factor final in 2015 where she performed her new record at the time, Hello.

Adele is one of the world’s most successful artists and has sold more than 30million albums worldwide.

Her brimming trophy cabinet includes 15 Grammy Awards, nine Brit Awards and a coveted Oscar in 2013 for James Bond theme tune, Skyfall.

There was speculation that Oscar-winner Adele would release her fourth album later this year, but her manager confirmed there is no concrete date for when the project will arrive.

With no date confirmed, the singer had been keeping fans up to date with her incredible weight loss as she dropped seven stone this year.

During a Instagram homage to her favourite singer, Beyonce, Adele looked almost unrecognisable with her long curly tresses and slender physique.

Meanwhile, JB and his band mates have taken a seven year break from performing in JLS, but they will be reuniting for a UK tour starting in the winter of this year, they have also been working on new material.

They will also be putting on a special performance for NHS workers to thank them for their hard-work saving lives and for getting the UK through the coronavirus storm.

His JLS comrade, Ortise announced the news at the beginning of the pandemic:  ‘I have always championed and extended my gratitude to the NHS at every opportunity possible, from the way that the incredible nurses had supported my mother through her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis.

‘I am so incredibly proud that my JLS brothers and I are able to come together, to put on a special show for all of the NHS superheros on the frontline.’
