Model Kelly Gale risks death by recklessly stretching by the edge of a cliff

An Australian model left her Instagram followers horrified on Thursday when she shared a photo of herself performing a yoga stretch on the edge of a dangerous cliff.

Kelly Gale, who has walked the runway for Victoria’s Secret five times, posed for the perilous photo while hiking across Horseshoe Bend in Page, Arizona.

The 25-year-old bent over backwards less than a metre from the sheer drop below, and almost certainly would have died if she’d tumbled in the wrong direction.

But the obvious risk didn’t seem to bother Kelly, who is dating Suicide Squad actor Joel Kinnaman, as she captioned the photo: ‘Casual stretching on the edge.’

While most of her followers seemed oblivious to the dangers, a handful pointed out the recklessness of her actions.

A fellow model said the photo made their ‘hands immediately start to sweat’, to which a fan replied: ‘For real! I was there last year and my knees were buckling just by standing near the edge.’

‘Be careful,’ one follower commented, while another wrote: ‘Are you nuts?’

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Kelly’s management for comment.

Horseshoe Bend is a popular photo destination, and visitors often stand dangerously close to the edge to achieve the perfect snap.

A 14-year-old girl visiting from San Jose, California, died there in December 2018.

Family members had reported the girl missing about two hours after they last saw her at the cliff edge. Arizona police found her body 210 metres below the overlook.

In May that year, a 33-year-old man fell to his death from the same location.

A viewing deck with safety rails is open for tourists, offering a safer view of the canyon; however, visitors can still explore the ledge freely, reports AZ Central.

Kelly is no stranger to controversy, as she was widely criticised in December 2018 for ‘shaming’ fast-food diners by filming a workout outside the entrance of an In-N-Out burger restaurant in Monterey, California, and posting the footage to Instagram.

As guests walked in and out of the establishment carrying fast food, the activewear-clad model conspicuously worked up a sweat using a skipping rope.

While jumping on the spot and performing core exercises, several passers-by could be seen looking at Kelly rather quizzically.

The fact she was positioned directly outside the front entrance also meant several patrons had to walk around her.

In the caption, she said there were ‘no excuses’ when it came to healthy living and encouraged her fans to squeeze in workouts whenever possible.

Kelly added: ‘Not gonna pretend I was eating here.’

Several of her Instagram followers were left confused by Kelly’s behaviour, with one commenting: ‘Way to make people around you feel very uncomfortable.’

‘This is low key kinda f**ked up,’ another wrote. A third asked: ‘Were you trying to guilt-trip their customers?’

A fourth noted: ‘I bet this made a lot of people feel bad about buying In -N-Out.’
