Shane Richie may have been booted out of the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! castle on Thursday, but his wife Christie is clearly thrilled to have him out.

The couple married in 2007, and Christie gushed over Shane’s weight loss on the show and how he reminds her of when they first met now he’s shed a few pounds.

‘I am really surprised at how different he looks. We knew he would lose some weight and in some respects he went in there looking at it like a boot camp,’ she told the Mirror of her 56-year-old husband.

‘To see that jawline after all these years, it was like greeting an old friend! I haven’t seen it in years. I wonder if he can keep all the weight off!

‘He needs a good shave and a good scrub and a haircut but it does remind me of the old days when we first got together. I think he will love the way he looks and be thankful to have lost some weight.’

She added, of her husband’s personal journey on the three-week stint, that he had a ‘twinkle in his eye again’ and that the star done some ‘soul-searching’ and ‘grown as a person.’

Shane got booted from Gwrych Castle – leaving Vernon Kay, Giovanna Fletcher, and Jordan North as this year’s three I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! finalists.

The trio are now in the running to be the first ever King or Queen of the castle, after the series moved to Wales amid the COVID-19 crisis.

He was seen taking part in it with the other three in the episode, ahead of his eviction.

Shane said: ‘It’s mixed emotions. You know, getting so far… We were all really glad to do the Celebrity Cyclone last night, being in the fantastic four.

‘We felt we’d achieved… I think whenever anyone comes on this show, they feel the final is the Cyclone, and anything after that is a bonus.’

Who will win? The show will reach its conclusion on Friday night, with the final episode airing on ITV at 9PM

And sharing his tips for any celebrities that might want to take on the challenge of the series next year, Shane said the most important thing is making sure you ’embrace’ camp life.

He said: ‘Anyone who comes on this show next year, you’ve got to embrace it. You can’t be… it’s no good trying to be on your own somewhere. You’ve got to be an open book.

‘You can’t fake it here, maybe for a couple of days, but after that you can’t.’

He also named author and podcast host Giovanna as the campmate he’d most like to see win the series.

He admitted: ‘I’d love to see Mamma Gi win. She’s been so strong all the way through. I think Jordan’s a strong contender… listen, it could be anyone, couldn’t it? But Mamma Gi has been there from the beginning and I adore her.’
