This is 40! The Project star Carrie Bickmore stuns in a flowing pink dress as she celebrates her birthday – after revealing she had to cancel her plans to go to Glastonbury to party

Carrie Bickmore revealed in September that she had to cancel her grand plans to celebrate her milestone 40th birthday at Glastonbury, due to COVID-19

And on Friday, The Project host celebrated her big day with a smaller shindig with her family by her side.

Carrie stunned in a flowing pink dress as she posed next to a balloon that had a VERY cheeky message, joking that she gets to stay 39 for another year as this birthday doesn’t count.

‘Thanks for all the birthday love yesterday,’ Carrie captioned the post.

‘Not the big 40th party I had planned due to COVID… but after such a weird year I just feel so grateful to have my health… and I really felt all the love from my beautiful family and friends yesterday.’

‘Thanks Chris and the kids for making it so special. I’ll put on my dancing shoes next year and have a 41st instead… means I get to stay 39 for another year.’

In September, Carried penned a column for Stellar and said that she and some of her friends, who were also turning 40, had to rethink their grand plans to celebrate because of the coronavirus pandemic.

‘On the agenda: Glastonbury [music festival], a blues & roots festival, a ’90s-themed birthday bash and getting a tattoo,’ she said of their plans.

COVID-19 also forced the cancellation of the Glastonbury, which was supposed to be it’s milestone 50th year.

‘Instead, I sat in my lounge room “streaming” the best of Glastonbury on TV and taking part in low-key Zoom parties as each of my beautiful girlfriends marked their milestone birthdays,’ she said.

However, she urged people to not cancel celebrations amid an already difficult year.

‘I say we don’t cancel all these milestones, we just postpone… even if Schoolies becomes Toolies and 40ths become 41sts. Let’s still plan these fun occasions, because planning is half the fun,’ she said.
