Avengers: Endgame originally had a Vision post-credits scene reveals Paul Bettany

While the new Disney Plus series WandaVision continues the adventures of Wanda Maximoff a.k.a. Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany), it seems Vision almost had a post-credits scene on Avengers: Endgame.

Both Olsen and Bettany were promoting WandaVision, which continues its first season with a new episode on January 22, in an Ask Each Other Anything segment for IMDB on Tuesday.

Olsen asked Bettany what he initially thought Vision’s chances of returning in the MCU were, before revealing there was a ‘tag’ featuring Vision.

‘I was sort of very much in the 10 to 15 percent. At one point there was going to be a tag where you (Scarlet Witch) opened a sort of body bag drawer and there was the Vision,’ Bettany began.

Ultimately, he was approached by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, who told him, ‘I’ve got to pull the shots.’

‘And I was like, “Ugh!” Because I really wanted that profit participation!’ Bettany joked.

Bettany has been in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since its inception, first providing the voice of Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.) A.I. J.A.R.V.I.S. in Iron Man before becoming Vision.

Like many of the original MCU stars, Paul Bettany’s Marvel contract was up with Avengers: Endgame, with the actor originally believing that was the end of the road with his journey in the MCU, until it wasn’t.

‘He called me up and said, “Can you come into the office?” You know, when the boss calls you up, and your contract is over, you kind of know what that’s about,’ Bettany added.

‘I thought I was going to get kicked off the case, so I went in and I didn’t want anyone to be uncomfortable so I said, “Look, it’s been a great run and I love you guys and no hard feelings.” They went, “Wait, are you quitting?” And I went, “No, aren’t you firing me?” And they went, ‘No. We’re gonna put you in a TV show,” and I went, “I’m in.”‘

The TV series, WandaVision, is the first of several new Marvel offerings debuting on Disney Plus this year.

After the nine-episode WandaVision completes its run, it will be followed by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, debuting March 14.
