World tours, hit albums, and millions of YouTube views: Married At First Sight bride Booka Nile’s metal band Make Them Suffer were hugely popular long before she found fame on reality TV

Her budding romance with hipster groom Brett Helling has made her a fan favourite on Married At First Sight.

But Booka Nile is no stranger to the spotlight, having lived the rock-star lifestyle as a singer and keyboardist in heavy metal band Make Them Suffer.

The Perth-based band have grown in popularity over the years, with their most recent album, How to Survive a Funeral, reaching No. 17 on Australia’s ARIA charts.

All four of their studio albums have made the ARIA charts, with each release charting higher than the last.

Make Them Suffer have become a hugely successful touring act in recent years, performing at some of Australia’s biggest music festivals like Full Tilt and Download.

They even launched a headline world tour in 2017, playing venues across America, Canada and Europe.

Make Them Suffer have also racked up millions of views on YouTube for their various music videos.

But despite the band’s success, Booka has admitted in interviews that being a rock star hasn’t exactly afforded her a life of luxury.

‘We are making enough to tour at this stage which is really, really great,’ she told Moshville in 2017.

‘Obviously, we can’t go out and have big blow-outs. We’re living very skint and we’re roughing it a lot of the time but we’re surviving!

‘We’re not in a position where we’re starving you know, we’re making ends meet but it’s pretty reliant on peoples support and purchasing merch. All of that really helps.’

Booka married electrician and psychology student Brett Helling on Tuesday’s episode of the controversial social experiment.

Sparks flew between the pair as soon as they met, with their attraction and connection only growing throughout their wedding and reception.
