Jake Quickenden has revealed that he named his newborn son in a tribute to his late brother, Oliver, who passed away in 2012.
The former X Factor star, 32, and his girlfriend Sophie Church, 27, welcomed their little boy Leo Oliver on Friday.
He said naming his son after his younger brother, who died at the age of 19 following a battle with bone cancer, was a way to keep his memory alive.
‘I’ll keep his memory alive that way’: Jake Quickenden, 32, has revealed that he named his newborn son Leo Oliver in a tribute to his late brother, Oliver, who passed away in 2012
In an interview with Entertainment Daily ahead of the birth, he said: ‘I think I’m hoping the baby has a little bit of my dad and brother in them anyway, but Oliver will be his middle name.
‘My little brother was my best mate before he passed away so I’ll definitely keep his memory alive that way.’
Jake also said he plans to show his child ‘videos and photos’ of his own father, Paul, who also tragically passed away from bone cancer in 2008.
He said: ‘Growing up I had the best relationship with my dad. Unfortunately I didn’t get a lot of time with him because he passed when I was nearly 20.’

But Jake said that he feels his close relationship with his father has prepared him for fatherhood.
‘He taught me a lot so to be able to have that bond with my little baby, I can’t wait,’ he said. I can’t wait to show the baby what my dad taught me.’
Jake also declared that at 32, the ‘partying’ was out of his system and he was ready to become a ‘family man’.
His girlfriend of three years, Sophie, revealed that she has high hopes for Jake as he becomes a father, saying: ‘I think he’ll be an amazing dad.
Hands-on dad: On Monday, Sophie shared a photo of a beaming Jake out for a walk with their newborn son, as he carried him in a printed baby muslin
‘Obviously he’s had a bit of a taster with Fred but there’s going to be a bit age gap between [her son] Fred and the baby, so I do think he’s going to have a bit of a shock to the system.’

Jake told Daily Star: ‘I’ve had nasty tweets from people saying things like, ‘I hope the baby dies’.
‘I get stupid s*** like that. If people start trolling Sophie or the baby a lot, that is something I will have to get my head around.
‘You think, ‘Why would they say that?’. I understand if people don’t give a s**t about my life. But they don’t have to comment on it.’
Jake added he’s often come across trolls since shooting to fame during his The X Factor stint in 2012, telling the publication he’s ‘learned to deal with it’.
And although receiving a handful of negative messages, Jake has still managed to soak up the first few days with his son.
Sharing glimpse into his new routine as a dad to Instagram over the weekend the hunk revealed that Leo has already met his doting big brother Freddie, six, who is Sophie’s son from a previous relationship.
Jake also shared several clips of Leo sleeping on his chest and taking in his new surroundings while Sophie looked sensational just days after the birth.
