Channel Seven star Sonia Kruger, 55, reveals a shock career move as she announces an exciting new project

Sonia Kruger will be an ambassador for Sydney’s Autumn Racing Carnival this year.

The announcement was made in The Sunday Telegraph over the weekend, with the 55-year-old clearly excited by her involvement.

Talking to the publication, Sonia said she was thrilled to be able to participate and enjoy the event days without ‘working’ as part of a coverage team.

‘I worked at many big race days, and to be asked to be an ambassador is fantastic because, you know, you get to go and enjoy the whole experience,’ she said.

‘Because when you’re actually working in your team, you’re sort of part of the coverage, you feel a little bit like an outsider looking in.’

Sonia, known for her chic ensembles, went on to say she was expecting more demure styles on the track this year.

She added vintage would be big this year especially with the popularity of Netflix’s hit show, Bridgerton.

‘In the fabrics you’ll see a lot of velvet, see a lot of felt and leather, and even those earthy autumn tones which I’m really sort of drawn to.’

Sonia has become somewhat of a style queen of late and regularly promotes her love of health and fitness.

A report claimed contestants suffered numerous injuries while filming the extreme mini golf obstacle course.

One suffered 12 broken ribs, two others broke their ankles, and there were a number of concussions when the show filmed in 2020, Woman’s Day reported previously.

The quirky series also saw Matt Shirvington and Rob Riggle commentate.
