Amid earlier reports Johnny Depp was selling a poem he penned for ex-fiancee Winona Ryder as an NFT for charity, DailyMail.com has learned that the auction has now been cancelled amid a hoax.
Sources Tuesday told DailyMail.com that someone had impersonated the Hollywood actor, leading to the cancellation.
A person impersonating the actor arranged the ruse, sources said, fraudulently claiming they were set to give away various items of Depp’s, including a signed photograph of the Pirates of the Caribbean star playing one his beloved guitars at his villa in France.

The charity auction was set up by the organization ViciNFT, which is headed up by Bill Gladstone, an author and literary agent who has represented Neil Young, Pamela Anderson and Deepak Chopra.
Johnny and Winona were engaged for three years between 1990 and 1993.
The pair starred alongside each other in Edward Scissorhands in 1990 and were known for their mutual love of poetry.
The 49-year-old actress – who recently defended her ex-fiance at court after he was accused by ex-wife Amber Heard of physical and verbal abuse – previously said of her romance with the 57-year-old actor: ‘It was absolutely like nothing before.

‘It’s very hard to have a personal life in this town,’ he said. ‘My relationship with Winona, it was my mistake to be as open as we were, but I thought if we were honest it would destroy that curiosity monster. Instead it fed it, gave people license to feel they were part of it.’
