Caroline’s post was quickly flooded with celebratory messages from her friends and followers – including several of her fellow tennis stars.

Russian player Elena Vesnina shared a sweet comment, writing: ‘Congratulations to you all. Welcome to the world little princess Olivia.’

Shelby Rogers chimed in: ‘Aww absolutely precious! Look at those little feet! Congratulations!!!!’

The joyful announcement comes just four months after the ex-tennis player first announced that she was expecting a baby girl and almost two years to the day since Caroline and David tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony in Italy.

Throughout her pregnancy, Caroline shared several bump updates on social media, while also detailing how she had been keeping herself active and healthy right up until the arrival of her adorable daughter.

On May 19 the former tennis pro hit the courts once again, sharing video of herself volleying a ball across the net while showing off her growing bump.

Tennis was not the only activity that Caroline partook in while pregnant however – she also tried her hand at golf, visiting a driving range where she revealed the resident pro told her she had ‘the best 8+ months pregnant swing he had seen all day’.

Caroline last shared a bump update two weeks ago when she posted several stunning images from a professional maternity shoot in which she could be seen showing off her growing stomach in a flowing dress and a white bathing suit.

She also posted a more candid bump picture on May 13 – less than a month before Olivia’s arrival – when she showed off her stomach in leggings and a sports bra, posing side-on for a mirror selfie to better show off her growing tummy.

Caroline, who was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 2018, officially retired from professional tennis in January 2020, revealing at the time that she wanted to focus on starting a family with David.

She announced her decision on Instagram in December 2019, revealing her plans to step away from the courts once and for all after competing in the Australian Open.

‘…I’ve accomplished everything I could ever dream of on the court. I’ve always told myself, when the time comes, that there are things away from tennis that I want to do more, then it’s time to be done,’ the tennis star wrote, noting that her decision to retire had nothing to do with her health.

‘In recent months, I’ve realized that there is a lot more in life that I’d like to accomplish off the court,’ she added.

‘Getting married to David was one of those goals and starting a family with him while continuing to travel the world and helping raise awareness about rheumatoid arthritis (project upcoming) are all passions of mine moving forward.’
