‘I was just hoping this person moved on to the hard shoulder. My main concern was everyone being safe and that there were no accidents. It happened so quickly and was so random.’

Ms Chandler said she first noticed something was happening when the vehicles in front started suddenly braking.

She added: ‘People in front started slowing down and putting their hazard lights on, I thought it was an accident.

‘Then everyone started to move again and just out of the corner of my eye I saw cars swerving and trying to get into the middle lane.

‘This woman was just walking towards my car. I was down to about 5mph, I was boxed in.

‘She got no reaction from me and did it to the person behind me. It was just so bizarre.’
