Denmark captain Simon Kjaer reveals Christian Eriksen incident ‘did something to the group’ as Kasper Hjulmand’s side make it through to Euro 2020 semi-finals
Denmark captain Simon Kjaer has revealed that the incident involving Christian Eriksen ‘did something to the group’ after his side reached the semi-finals of Euro 2020.
Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch during Denmark’s opening group stage fixture against Finland on June 12.
The 29-year-old had an cardioverter defibrillator implanted before being discharged from hospital.

Denmark made it through to the semi-finals with a 2-1 victory against Czech Republic on Saturday night, and will now take on England in the last four, with Kjaer saying that the team spirit among the Danish squad is extremely strong following what occurred with Eriksen.
As reported by goal, Kjaer said: ‘It did something to the group. We thrive and we’re safe together. We know we can trust the people around us. We know that if one of us is in trouble, then someone else is there for you.
‘It gives us security and of course it makes Christian feel good.
‘We can press because we know that the player next to us is there to back us up.’

Kjaer received much praise following Eriksen’s collapse as he summoned the medical team to get onto the pitch quickly and he also ensured that Eriksen’s airways were unobstructed when he was unconscious.
Furthermore, Kjaer told his team-mates to form a shield around Eriksen while he was being attended to.
Denmark lost their opening game 1-0 against Finland and were also beaten 2-1 by Belgium but they managed to progress from their group after beating Russia 4-1.
An impressive 4-0 victory against Wales followed in the last-16 before the win against Czech Republic.
Denmark will face a tough task against England at Wembley, but, given the team spirit that Kasper Hjulmand’s side possess and the fact that they possess threats in various areas,, they will have hope that they can reach the final.
