Jordan Pickford was showing ‘a lack of concentration’ during Euro 2020 semi-final

Jose Mourinho claims Jordan Pickford was showing ‘a lack of concentration’ before Denmark’s semi-final opener and suggests England goalkeeper WAS at fault for Mikkel Damsgaard’s free-kick

Jordan Pickford‘s ‘lack of concentration’ was evident during the first-half of England’s Euro 2020 semi-final with Denmark and was at play during the first goal, according to Jose Mourinho

The England goalkeeper was beaten for the first time during the tournament on Wednesday night as Mikkel Damsgaard planted a free-kick beyond the Everton shot-stopper.

He had previously gone five matches without conceding a single goal, producing a number of important stops throughout.

However, Pickford appeared nervous in the opening stages, with his early distribution not up to its usual standard.

And Jose Mourinho believes the writing was on the wall, suggesting the No 1 was at fault for the match’s first goal.

Earlier on, even before Denmark’s opener, Jordan Pickford was showing some nerves and a bit of a lack of concentration,’ the Roma boss mentioned on talkSPORT, as per the Sun.

‘I saw the mistake arriving, but apart from that I didn’t see one England player who didn’t play well or very well.’

Mourinho was not the only one to suggest Pickford was at fault. Speaking on ITV after the game, Gary Neville also criticised the keeper.

When asked whether Pickford could have done better, the former England international said: ‘Most definitely.

‘I think we feared the worst when it was being lined up as Roy (Keane) said the goal was coming.’
