Anna Faris beams as she steps out for dinner with son Jack and beau Michael Barrett in Santa Monica

Anna Faris has apparently taken a step from the spotlight since she starred as the leading lady in Overboard (2018), which was a commercial success, grossing over $91 million worldwide.

That extra time has allowed her to spent more time with her eight-year-old son Jack, whom she shares with ex-husband Chris Pratt.

And on Sunday the actress and her son met up with her beau, Michael Barrett, and a few other friends for dinner at the popular Mexico restaurant, Tallula’s, in the Santa Monica neighborhood of Los Angeles. 

Faris, 44, was all smiles when she stepped out with her son by her side dressed in black skinny jeans and a black-patterned shirt. 

Also dressed casually in blue jeans and a matching t-shirt, Barrett was with his ladylove and her boy when they arrived outside the restaurant. 

The trio quickly joined up with friends and sat in an outdoor patio section of the establishment.

Due to the newly reintroduced mask mandate, everyone had to wear face masks whenever they weren’t sitting down eating.

The mask mandate, which requires masking indoors regardless of vaccination status, went back into effect in Los Angeles late Saturday night in the wake of a rise in coronavirus cases and hospitalizations, due in part to the delta variant.  

Even after they left the restaurant and headed back to their parked car, Faris made sure that Jack had his face mask on, just to be on the safe side.

The actress has spoken candidly about her experience about giving birth to Jack seven weeks before his due date back in 2012.

She has used her voice and celebrity platform to help raise awareness about premature babies and children in need of specialized care. 

Just this past May, while serving as a featured speaker at the virtual fundraising effort for the nonprofit organization Global Alliance To Prevent Prematurity And Stillbirth (GAPPS), the Maryland native revealed how she ‘couldn’t stop searching for answers’ following his birth at just three pounds and 10 ounces.

After asking herself and the experts question after question, Faris came to the realization that ‘in many of these cases, we have no idea why this happens… GAPPS’ No. 1 goal is prevention. And in order to prevent premature births, we need answers.’

To help find some of those answers, Faris has been serving as a board member for GAPPS.

Both Faris and Pratt, who filed for divorce in December 2017, have been using their social media platforms to raise awareness about premature babies and GAPPS.
