Inter Milan chief confirms interest in Hector Bellerin amid talk of a loan move for the out-of-favour Arsenal defender… and Serie A giants ‘won’t rule out’ a swoop for Man United’s Alex Telles

  • Beppe Marotta confirmed the club’s interest in signing Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin
  • The club are eager to sign defensive players after Achraf Hakimi signed for PSG
  • Bellerin could leave Arsenal this summer after losing his starting line-up place
  • Marotta could also sign Manchester United defender Alex Telles this summer
  • However, the 28-year-old defender only signed for the Red Devils one year ago

Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta has confirmed the club’s interest in signing Arsenal‘s Hector Bellerin and says he won’t rule out a move for Manchester United‘s Alex Telles.

Bellerin, who has spent his entire senior career with the Gunners, fell out of favour under Mikel Arteta last season and has been strongly linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium.

While Telles, who only arrived at Manchester United last summer, has been linked with a departure from Old Trafford just one year on from signing a four-year deal, with the option to extend for another year.

The Nerazzurri are eager to purchase defensive reinforcements as their first-choice right-back as Achraf Hakimi signed for Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth for £51m earlier this month.

When asked about signing Bellerin, Marotta told Sky Italia: ‘His is a name that is mentioned by you, there’s our interest, but I won’t go any further, because he’s not our player.’

He also gave an insight into the club’s interest in Telles by saying: ‘I won’t rule out anything, but at the moment we are focusing on evaluating all the opportunities without the haste of having to close this or that operation.’

Bellerin is likely to leave Arsenal this summer after losing his place as the first-choice right-back option in the middle of February.

The 26-year-old started just two out of the Gunners’ last 13 Premier League matches as Cedric Soares and Calum Chambers were selected ahead of the Spaniard.

Arsenal are also preparing for a first season without European football in a quarter of a century and it is believed the north Londoners will need to sell players before they can add to the squad.

Therefore, they could look to offload Bellerin – who has picked up interest from Inter, PSG and Barcelona despite his inconsistent performances for the Gunners.

Meanwhile, Manchester United may be reluctant to let Telles leave this summer after acquiring his signature just one year ago.

However, this could change if they secure Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier for £18million this summer.

Nevertheless, Telles – who is capable of playing on both the right and the left – provides adequate cover for England sensation Luke Shaw.

Telles has also said that he would like to stay at Old Trafford and work his way into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.

He told the club’s official website: ‘I’m really happy to be back here. It’s a pleasure to be at Manchester United coming into my second season.

‘Last season, we came really close to winning trophies, so we go into this next season with a lot of desire and I really want to show my work and my value here at the club.’
