Mary J. Blige turns into an action hero as she gets back to work on set of new movie Power Book II: Ghost in NYC

Fresh from a vacation in sunny Miami, Florida Mary J. Blige was back to work in New York City

On Tuesday, July 27 the 50-year-old singer was spotted on the set of Power Book II: Ghost filming a very intense scene.

Concealing her body behind a dumpster in matching green, Blige — who plays Tejada Drug Organization head Monet — was seen drawing a firearm during a shootout scene.

Day at the office! Mary J. Blige was spotted filming an intense scene for Power Book II: Ghost in New York City on July 27

The No More Drama crooner was in full wardrobe as she wore green cargo pants with a matching sweater and a hefty utility vest with black Fendi combat boots.

She donned eye-catching crimson hair that fell below her bust and was accessorized with large square bamboo hoops throughout the course of the shoot.

Mary matched her surroundings as she ducked for cover behind a large green dumpster and cautiously drew a gun.

Beside her ducking for protection was actor Daniel Lee Bellomy who plays Monet’s nephew Zeke Cross who held a basketball following a scene on a park court.

And later they were seen with what looked to be Omari Hardwick who plays the titular character Ghost.

The Power spinoff has been filming for the past few months and is over halfway through the season in terms of what has been shot already.

In late May, Mary told Express that when it comes to playing Monet, she draws a lot of her inspiration from experiences she had growing up in The Bronx.

‘I was completely inspired by everything I grew up around and it was easy to find that real character, to make this character come to life.’

She continued to tell Entertainment Weekly in July that it’s important that women can relate to strong female figures on the screen.

‘Women see themselves in these powerful female characters. I know I see myself in them.’
