Nunez arrived at Benfica last summer, with the club forking out a club record £21m to secure his signature.

He caught the attention of several Premier League giants after scoring a hat-trick in the Europa League last season.

As a result, Brighton will face stiff competition to land the striker’s signature this summer.

Brighton have also made an offer for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard but he is unsure over the move.

Nevertheless, Brighton are said to be stepping up their £20million pursuit of Edouard after Celtic’s Champions League qualification clash with FC Midtjylland.
