Reynolds told The Telegraph: ‘I am proud to say it was never a joke.

‘We take the growing and building of both Wrexham AFC and Wrexham the community very seriously. In a town like Wrexham, if the football club is going to do very well, the community has to do very well.’

Wrexham finished 8th in the National League last season and Reynolds is now targeting promotion to League Two.

Asked what his goals are, he said: ‘Huge: promotion, promotion, promotion.’

He added: ‘It is one of the oldest football clubs on the planet, it’s a hard-working town filled with incredibly passionate and interesting people.

‘We’re not attempting to be the smartest people in the room – there are people in Wrexham who know more about football than I will ever know.’

Reynolds and McElhenney have already made some significant decisions at Wrexham, including the appointment of the experienced Phil Parkinson as manager after the departure of Dean Keates.

The club will have TikTok as their shirt sponsor as the owners attempt to increase Wrexham’s overall appeal.

Although Reynolds has yet to visit Wrexham due to the pandemic he outlined that he and McElhenney are going to have a hands-on approach to running the club.

He said: ‘We cannot wait to start the new season… We’re going to be over there all the time.

Wrexham will commence the new National League season on August 21 when they host Yeovil.
