A TikTok mom posted footage of a fellow restaurant patron who confronted her in a New York restaurant, telling her it ‘is not the place’ for her to take her autistic toddlers for dinner before, the poster said, demanding free food from the diner.
User @bamskye2426 shared a few short clips from the uncomfortable interaction, which she said took place at a ‘family oriented spot’ on Long Island.
‘According to Karen this isn’t the place for autistic children. It’s a dive diner,’ she captioned the post, uploaded on Monday.
The aggravated woman, who had apparently already been complaining before the user started filming, told the young mother than she should ‘take [her children] to Chuck E. Cheese’ instead because ‘this is not the place.’
‘Are you taking a picture of me? Well good, you’re wrong,’ the shrill woman says when she realizes the mother is recording.
After some users sided with the aggravated woman, @bamskye2426 posted a video of her children, Bentley and Miley, playing at the restaurant before the altercation. The pair are secured in high chairs, smiling and laughing as they tickle each other.
Four other kids, belonging to her friends, are also sitting at the table. In one of the videos, the poster writes ‘all 6 kids are silent and adults are yelling.’

‘[My kids] behave better than her,’ the mother said in a follow-up video. ‘The kids didn’t get up from their table, they didn’t go to anyone else’s table to bother them. They didn’t do any of the behaviors this grown woman exhibited.’
The Karen sports a Louis Vuitton bag and what appears to be a fresh pedicure in the video but, according to the poster, demanded that the restaurant owners comp her meal, and cited that she ‘c[ouldn’t] go out to eat a lot’ because she ‘couldn’t afford it.’
‘Even if my kids had done anything, which they did not except for talking and laughing,’ she posted in a later video, responding to a commenter who asked “Why are your children and your feelings more important than this woman’s?”
‘Why wouldn’t the restaurant get their money? Why would they owe her something because she didn’t enjoy the other patrons in the restaurant?’
‘I could’ve just paid for her meal. If somebody said ‘I can’t afford to go out to eat and I want to ’ it would always be on my heart to help somebody eat,’ the user said. ‘But instead she threw that fit… demanded free food and… walked out without paying.’
Some commenters speculated that the bellyaching woman was a scam artist.
‘This is [an] EXTORTIONIST at work,’ wrote @audiogeek58. ‘If you do not like kids, stay home or go to adult only restaurants.’
In another video posted from the restaurant, the restaurant’s owner can be seen apologizing to the mother as the irate woman complains unintelligibly in the background.
I saw the kids- all the kids [are] like that, so don’t worry about it,’ he says, his hands fidgeting.
‘This is, like, horrifying,’ the mother replies.
Commenters were supportive of the young mother and horrified at the behavior of the other woman – @_itskim_97 wrote that ‘if she wanted quiet time she should’ve just stayed home! I’m so nervous to take my [baby] out cuz of people like her.’
‘People should really think about how moms are too ashamed to go out to eat,’ @bamskye2426 replied to the comment. ‘It’s a shame.’
