Ex-McLaren chief Ron Dennis races to bring kids Easter joy by delivering 10,000 chocolate eggs

Ron Dennis, the former McLaren boss, has been delivering 10,000 Easter eggs through his Salute the NHS initiative to help the fight against coronavirus.

The Cadbury Wispa eggs were donated by Tesco and are being delivered to children in hospital and the kids of NHS staff by Yodel.

The motor racing mogul is putting more than £1million into the scheme.

He was inspired to set up Salute the NHS by his anaesthetist daughter, Charlotte Hall.

The initiative also aims to deliver a million meals to front-line NHS staff. They will include ‘boost’ packs to eat during their shifts or at the end of their stint on the wards.

‘We designed and manufactured the little stickers, unpacked 10,000 eggs on our production line, stuck them on and packaged the eggs up again in five hours,’ said Dennis.

‘Our aim is to bring joy to sick children in hospitals over Easter. Hopefully it will bring a smile.’
