  • Couple have been searching for months but are yet to find their ‘dream home’

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are renting an £8million mansion near to their friends Sir Elton John and David Furnish, a source has claimed.

Prince Harry, 35, and Meghan Markle, 38, are currently residing in a home in Los Angeles until they find a permanent place to stay away from onlookers.

‘Meghan and Harry have been hunting for months but have yet to find their dream home,’ a source said, speaking to The Sun. ‘The market is dive-bombing at the moment so a permanent move seems some time away.’

The ‘paparazzi-proof’ property is believed to be ‘away from prying eyes’ and offers high security including two guarded guarded checkpoints – along with a pool, gym and landscaped gardens.

The source added: ‘If they can’t move for another few months, at least they will be happy and very comfortable here.’

With lockdown in LA lasting until at least May 15, it is believed the royals have been in contact with the singer, 73, and husband David, 57, via video link.

The musician is a long-time friend of the royal couple, having serenaded guests at their wedding in May 2018 and in August this year the royals took a trip to Nice, France to stay with Elton in his £15million mansion.

He has a close connection to the Royal family and also attended the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at Westminster Abbey in 2011.

It comes after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were pictured in Los Angeles for the first time.

The Duke and Duchess were seen delivering food packages on behalf of the Los Angeles-based nonprofit Project Angel Food on Wednesday.

Harry and Meghan were captured on surveillance cameras arriving at the Sierra Bonita Community Apartments in West Hollywood in their SUV at 10:55am.

A security team accompanied the couple in a separate SUV that followed closely behind, but they opted to walk up to the apartment to deliver the food alone.

Dressed casually in jeans, Harry and Meghan both followed California’s new rules regarding face coverings, issued by Gov. Gavin Newsom on April 15.

While Harry elected to cover his face with a blue bandana, Meghan sported what appeared to be a white surgical mask. The couple also both wore a single glove on their right hand.

Meghan and Harry spent two days volunteering with the non-profit last week, who cook and deliver meals to people with critical illness who are at a greater risk amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

None of the charity’s clients knew the Duke and Duchess were going to be delivering the food, nor had any been forewarned about their arrival.
