Sophie Monk is forced to confirm she is still alive after a bizarre DEATH hoax spread like wildfire on social media

Love Island host Sophie Monk has been forced to confirm she’s alive after false rumours swept the Internet overnight that she had died.

A fake news story ‘announcing’ the 40-year-old’s death was shared to a Facebook group titled ‘R.I.P Sophie Monk’ on Wednesday and attracted almost a million likes.

After the hoax went viral, KIIS FM radio hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson contacted Sophie live on air on Thursday in order to obtain ‘proof of life’.

‘Sophie this is Kyle and Jackie O, we just rang for proof of life,’ Kyle informed the 40-year-old.

Sophie said: ‘You two are the only ones who have called me. No one else bothered to call me. Thank you so much!’

She went on to explain the fake article was published in Los Angeles and ‘ it received one million likes on Facebook.’

Sophie also revealed: ‘They did a survey and 75 per cent of people said they enjoyed the death hoax.’

She also shared a photo of the article to her Instagram stories on Thursday and told her followers she was ‘still here’.

‘2020’s been tough but I’m still here,’ she wrote alongside a laughing emoji.

On Tuesday, a Facebook page titled ‘R.I.P Sophie Monk’ claimed the Australian media personality had passed away.

She also shared a photo of the article to her Instagram stories on Thursday and told her followers she was alive

‘At about 11am ET on Tuesday (September 22, 2020) our beloved singer Sophie Monk passed away. Sophie Monk was born on November 12, 1979 in London,’the post read.

‘She will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page,’ it ended.

The Facebook page and posts have since been deleted.
