CHRIS SUTTON: Jack Grealish would show a lack of ambition if he turns down Man City to stay at boyhood club Aston Villa… he has the talent to fit into Pep Guardiola’s system

  • Manchester City have emerged as the leading side in the race for Jack Grealish
  • The 25-year-old plays for his boyhood club and he clearly loves Aston Villa
  • Now, he is set to be faced with a huge decision this summer regarding his future
  • While getting into the City team will be tough, Grealish has the talent to succeed

It would not be impossible for Grealish to turn a move like this down, but would it show a lack of ambition? I think it would.

He’s done great things at Aston Villa, and he’s loved by the fans there. They would of course be hugely disappointed to see their captain go.

But it’s a massive boost to hear that a manager like Pep Guardiola wants to have you. Grealish is 25 now, and you want to finish your career winning major trophies. He has a much better chance of doing that at City than Villa.

Grealish is a confident young man, and in your career you don’t often get an opportunity to move to a club that will be dominating the game for the next few years.

But the big question is, if he does go to Manchester City, is he going to play?

You look at City’s options in Grealish’s area of the field — Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez, Ilkay Gundogan, Ferran Torres.

City already have a wealth of talent in their side and Grealish would have to work for a place

That being said, if Guardiola is willing to go out and spend £100million on a player, he’s going to play.

Grealish is such a talented player, and would fit right in to Guardiola’s system of keeping the ball and dominating possession.

No matter what options City already have, if Grealish went there I’m sure he would add something new.
