Retired UFC fighter Woodley, 39, had a 19-7 career in the MMA world and held the UFC Welterweight Championship between 2016 and 2019.

It means the American is a similar challenge to that of Askren in terms of reputation, with Paul’s most recent opponent also mustering 19 victories in his MMA career.

The 39-year-old described the challenge of Paul as the ‘easiest fight of my career’ and vows to get rid of the 24-year-old from boxing.

Woodley said: ‘It’s the easiest fight of my career & biggest purse of my career all in one night. Basically, they brought me in to take out the trash.

‘I can’t wait to shut this b**** up. This is getting done for the culture, the whole MMA/boxing community, to rid this guy of combat sports.’

After defeating Askren, Paul challenged UFC president Dana White to a fight in the ring, after the MMA supremo predicted he would not beat his last opponent in a boxing fight.

The fight with Woodley is the latest in what is becoming a long list of high-profile contests involving YouTubers, including Paul’s brother Logan who will fight Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition contest later this month.

Jake recently antagonised the 50-0 boxing icon at a pre-fight meet between his brother and Mayweather, which led to some scuffles between the two teams.

Jake was recently named as the third-highest paid boxer over the past 12 months, with only Anthony Joshua and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez earning more than the American.

According to sporting finance aggregator Sportico, Paul raked in more than £14million from beating Robinson and Askren, as well as endorsements earned outside the ring.
