Shh! Anti-agers no one but you need know about: The skin on my jaw is sagging, but I don’t want a facelift

  • Anonymous reader, 62, asked for advice on loose skin around their lower face
  • Inge van Lotringen recommended replacing this lost volume with dermal fillers
  • British beauty expert said filler lifts and volumizes skin along jawline and chin

Q I am 62 years young and the loose skin around my lower face and chin is making my jawline disappear. Is there a treatment (besides a facelift) that can sort this out?

A Dr David Jack explains that this loss of definition in the lower face and chin is not only down to lax skin, but likely age-related loss of fat and bone volume as well.

Aesthetic doctors like Dr Jack (drdavidjack.com) are getting great results by replacing this lost volume with dermal fillers, which can be used to restore definition.

An anonymous reader, 62, asked for advice on loose skin around their lower face without resorting to a facelift (stock image)

Dr Jack is a fan of Juvederm Volux, which is the densest filler available. ‘It can last up to 24 months, and almost mimics bone once injected,’ he says.

‘The filler acts like a “tent pole”, both lifting and volumising the skin along the jawline and chin, and so correcting that sense of these areas “blending” into the neck.’

It’s very important to do your research and select an experienced doctor for this.

‘You need a subtle approach, preferably proceeding in stages, or you can end up looking like Clark Kent,’ cautions Dr Jack.

He likes to combine Volux with Botox injected into the downward-pulling neck muscles, to relax the tug on the jawline and the neck.

Dr Jack would charge from £800 for the combined treatment. Elsewhere (check juvederm.co.uk for clinics) you should expect to pay from £550.
