‘I saw a video the other day that said if you put a Roll Up onto your tongue it actually leaves a temporary tattoo, I can’t believe it worked and I didn’t know this!’ Alex said in the clip.

A variety of different Roll Ups are available in stores, but Alex used the Uncle Toby’s Roll Up ‘Fun Prints’.

Upon closer inspection of the product packaging, the small figure going down the slide can be seen with the same Roll Up print on its tongue too.

The TikTok swiftly went viral and within 12 hours the clip had been watched more than 367,000 times.

A number of people who already knew of the trick also shared images on Facebook of the patterns on their tongues.

‘I’ve known that since I was six,’ one person wrote, another added: ‘People don’t know this?!’

‘It was the coolest thing to do in primary school at lunch,’ a third said.

Others admitted they had been ‘living under a rock’ as they weren’t aware.

‘I ate them for so many years and didn’t notice until last month,’ another said.
