With Holland one of the first countries to work with the technology, Makkelie can be considered an expert in it.

To be appointed this semi final shows how highly regarded the 38-year-old is. Bjorn Kuipers has been known as Holland’s best for a long time now.
But if and when Kuipers retires, Makkelie is ready to take over that title.
Our English representatives at Euro 2020 – referees Michael Oliver and Anthony Taylor – have enjoyed great tournaments.
But for obvious reasons, Gareth Southgate, his players and England’s fans will hope they’re nowhere near that final at Wembley!
