  • They are exploring loan moves for him and United defender Axel Tuanzebe

  • Abraham, who has spent time with Villa on loan, is open to a new challenge

Aston Villa have revived their interest in Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham as they explore loan moves for him and Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe.

Villa are in discussions with United to sign centre-back Tuanzebe on a season loan that would still cost around £5million and want Abraham too.

The Chelsea striker had a previous spell on loan with Villa and was the subject of an offer from them last summer but opted to fight for his place.

However, with Chelsea looking to sell to help offset their £100m bid for Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku, Abraham is open to a new challenge.

West Ham and Arsenal have him as an option also but Villa are well placed financially.

Chelsea will likely rebuff loan offers as they push for their £40m valuation, particularly after they received offers around £50m last summer. Abraham was limited to 32 appearances last season and still managed 12 goals.

Villa want to build a squad to challenge the top six regardless of whether Jack Grealish departs for Manchester City.

Abraham is not the only forward Villa are pursuing, with the club also holding an interest in Southampton’s Danny Ings.

And they have agreed a £30m fee with Bayer Leverkusen for Leon Bailey and still want to add James Ward-Prowse and Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell.

Chelsea sold Olivier Giroud to AC Milan earlier this summer and had a bid for Lukaku of £85m plus Marcos Alonso rejected by Inter yesterday.

They turned to Lukaku after hitting an impasse in their attempts to prise Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

They believe though that an offer around £100m cash could get a deal for Lukaku done with the Italians struggling financially.
