West Brom‘s search for a manager is set to continue with latest target David Wagner now poised to join Swiss club Young Boys.
Wagner had moved into strong contention for the Albion role after the club’s pursuit of their No.1 target Chris Wilder hit the buffers.
But MailOnline understands Wagner, who led Huddersfield to promotion to the Championship in 2017 and kept them in the top flight the following season, is set to be announced as coach of the Swiss champions, who will compete in the Champions League next season.

Albion may now turn their attentions to former player Derek McInnes, who is currently out of work following an eight-year spell at Aberdeen, which ended in March. He also has experience of the Championship, having managed Bristol City from 2011-13.
McInnes did an impressive job at Pittodrie, leading Aberdeen to the League Cup in 2014 and three successive second-place finishes behind Celtic between 2015-17.

Barnsley boss Valerien Ismael and Lincoln manager Michael Appleton also have admirers at Albion, although both – unlike McInnes – have compensation clauses in their contracts, which Albion would prefer not to pay.
Ismael performed above expectations by leading Barnsley to the Championship play-offs in 2020-21, and Appleton – another former West Brom player and coach – did the same with Lincoln in League One. Lincoln were beaten in the final by Blackpool while Barnsley were knocked out by Swansea in the semi-finals.
