Bachelor In Paradise’s Renee Barrett claims Matt Whyatt dumped her over text message

Bachelor in Paradise star Renee Barrett claims Matt Whyatt dumped her via text message just weeks after the finale – as the brutal truth of their relationship is exposed

Bachelor In Paradise‘s Renee Barrett has lifted the lid on her shock split from Matt Whyatt.

Speaking to So Dramatic! podcast after Sunday night’s finale, the 26-year-old claimed Matt, 28, brutally dumped her by text message just weeks after they left Fiji as a couple to pursue a long-distance relationship in the real world.

‘Yeah, it wasn’t great,’ Renee explained of the heartbreaking text message, adding: ‘But at the end of the day, I’ve had worse. God, I was with Ciarran!’

The brunette claimed that Matt, who is based on the Gold Coast, had planned to fly to Renee’s hometown of Darwin for New Years Eve last year, but instead dumped her just days before he was meant to fly.

‘He was supposed to come to Darwin but he didn’t come,’ Renee lamented.

Renee also alleged that within days of dumping her, Matt had already moved on with single mother Cheyenne O’Leary – who happens to be Married At First Sight star Rhyce Power’s ex-girlfriend.

It is believed that Matt Similarly moved on with his current girlfriend, Love Island star Kim Hartnett, very soon after splitting from Cheyenne.

However, despite the brutal way things ended, Renee conceded that her relationship with Matt would likely never have worked out anyway.

‘It’s fine, I completely understand because he is definitely somebody that needs somebody with him at all times,’ she said.

‘And at that moment I was not prepared to leave my job – which I love – and move for somebody that I still wasn’t too sure about,’ added Renee.

It comes after Matt’s ex-girlfriend, Married At First Sight’s Jessika Power, claimed that Matt ‘ghosted’ her to appear on Bachelor In Paradise, which was filmed from November to December last year.

Speaking to Isolation TV in July, Jessika claimed: ‘[Matt] completely just lied to me about going on the show and ghosted me and the next minute, he’s like: ‘I’m going on Bachelor in Paradise.”
