Channel Nine’s family-friendly Today show took an X-rated turn on Wednesday when Karl Stefanovic made a smutty joke about his co-host Allison Langdon.
The eyebrow-raising moment occurred after sports reporter Alex Cullen interviewed former NRL star Steve Menzies, who is commonly referred to by his nickname ‘Beaver’.
‘I’ve just been told Ally had a high school crush on you, Steve Menzies,’ Alex said.

Karl, 47, could be heard chuckling in the background: ‘Yes, that’s it!’
A red-faced Allison, 42, then confessed: ‘I don’t know if I’m over that crush, if I’m honest.’
‘I’ve always loved Beaver. He’s the best player and he’s such a gentleman.’

A confused Alex replied: ‘Beaver?’
‘It’s his nickname!’ Allison protested. ‘Anyway, very nice to see you, Steve. I’m a little bit flushed!’
Karl then burst into hysterical laughter, saying: ‘Ally’s always loved Beaver! That’s quite the admission!’

Alex also began laughing, and was so caught up in the double entendre he almost forgot to thank his guest for the interview.
Allison rolled her eyes and said: ‘Only Karl would go there. Keep it together, gentlemen!’
